Özet
This doctoral thesis presents a literature review to understand the effects of architecture on urban identity and sociology. Cities are identified with their social, cultural and economic structures as well as their architectural structures. For this reason, the effects of architectural design on urban identity and sociology have been studied by researchers, architects and urban planners for a long time.
The aim of this thesis is to examine the existing literature in depth to understand how architectural design can shape the identities of cities and affect social structures. A synthesis of related studies reveals how architectural design can go beyond just being a physical structure and affect people's daily lives and reflect the social and cultural context of cities.
The general structure of this study analyzes the role of architectural design in the formation and transformation of cities' identities, its effects on people's behavior and social interactions, and how urban areas interact with the values and identities of society. At the same time, it emphasizes strategies for the creation of sustainable and livable cities by evaluating the social and cultural consequences of urban planning and design decisions.
In conclusion, this doctoral thesis is a comprehensive study that deeply evaluates the existing knowledge in the literature on the effects of architecture on urban identity and sociology. It aims to contribute to the development of cities in a more sustainable and more compatible way with social and cultural values by encouraging the adoption of human-centered approaches in the design and transformation of cities for architects, urban planners and relevant stakeholders.
